Candy

This movie was a marvelous surprise. Sure it didn't have the budget of other epic love stories like the Notebook but it never delivers the same passion, alas in a very very different way, on the screen. That is what is so incredible about this movie, it's not just another love story, it's got it's own unique twist and the sad thing is there are probably millions of couples living the same drama in their own lives. It's not hard to find either. Abbie Cornish was a delight. She has this allure of grace, dignity but yet she was beleivable as a prostitute as well as when she was undergoing a nervous breakdown. I loved her on the screen every second. She is surely one up and comming actress. Although Heath Ledger gave an equally good performance, Abbie definitely was the one that surprised me the most. I am sad to give this movie an 8 as it surely is worthy a 9 or even a 10. However, the average screenplay, directing (mostly due to a low budget), brought this movie down a lot in quality which is a very sad thing given the incredible performances and beautifull love story.
