This movie rather ingeniously informs us on the tradings, dealings, and life of a first rate arms dealer. Surprisingly, it was more of pleasing as an informative documentary than it was as an entertainment blockbuster which in a way goes to the credit of the topic and the man rather than the movie. In any regards, it is worth the watch but I'd put a few warning signs beforehand: Stay clear of the movie if 1) You are too sensitive, 2) You are looking for an action movie. If you fit into any of these two categories then this movie is probably not your best bet for a tuesday night. On the other hand, if curiousity gets the better of you and you find yourself wondering what the life of a first rate independent arms dealer in all its glory would be like then I definitely suggest you see this movie. For this single purpose it delivers an incredible package. From the childhood of a poor immigrant family to the success story of boy with a dream to make something of himself this movie deals with the events one may encounter in such a life in a very thorough fashion : the unsuspecting wife who would rather be shielded from the dealings of her man, the unrelentless cop who purposes his moral ideals, the sensitive tortured man who cannot accept lives lost by the dealings of his brother, etc. There are rather innumerous elements that make this movie so complete as a whole. In the case of Matchstick men and Adaptation, its really a shame because he's quite good at it. Here, his rendition of the war lord is pretty predictable. However a few performances in this movie do stand out in my opinion: Jared Leto's performance of the sensitive brother too fragile and lost in his brother's world and Eamonn Walker portrayal of Andre Baptiste Sr. [...]
