I rented this film expecting to see, well, your typical Hollywood comicbook adaptation. It nist definitely was not. It was a very bad Australian adaptation! So obviously, now we know that Hollywood doesn't hold the monopoly on crappy movies. The sound editing was just dreadful - there were moments we had to Jack up the volume to make heads or tails of the (very weak) dialogues, and then all of a sudden the room was shaking from a totally gratuitous sound-effect that just popped out of nowhere. The acting was of the "I have a day-job but act for fun" variety. Surprisingly, however, the visual effects were quite well done. I rather enjoyed the last 15 minutes or so of the film (maybe because I knew it was all coming to an end? ) This film gives the impression of having been directed by two completely distinct people. The first half, with its annoying sound editing and god-awful acting, and the last half our or so, where it SORT of picks up a bit. Pick up this film at your local video club on one of those nights where you've seen everything else and nothing else is being released... but when you watch it, make sure to have your hand on the mute button of your sound system!
