The Departed

It seems to me that everyone that hasn't liked this movie was comparing it to the original. Although I can understand, I have to totally disagree with all of them for the fact that this movie was never meant to duplicate the original but only to entertain a new generation and not bring back to life a classic! This movie does what is was meant to due beautifully! It's a tight thriller from start to finish. They acting is intense and dramatic as it should be. Maybe some would disagree with the way Jack Nicholson portrayed this character but how can anyone ever compare two totally different portrayals of a part? Is anyone right or wrong? Even Andy Lau (the maker of the original trilogy) rated this movie 8/10! Regardless, this movie was to me impecable from start to finish. Not one moment of dull action, not a wasted time on film. You always wanted to know what was comming. This movie was never meant to become a classic but I have a hintch it'll grab quite a few nominations including best screenplay (the best I've seen this year! ), supporting actors and even maybe best actor (Leonardo was extremely beleivable)! Either way, this movie is simply a great american thriller.
