First, let me preface by saying that the acting was good. Shailene is pretty incredible. I've been a fan of hers ever since she stepped into the big screen. The movie, while entertaining, is very underwhelming. The big problem with me is the script. It doesn't build tension nearly well enough to allow the reader to be drawn into the whole divergent/fraction dilemma. The first movie was much more successful in accomplishing that. So, given that perspective, it isn't surprising that my rating is a reflection of the fact that the entertainment big-budget value was there, the acting was good (Kate Winslet, Naomie Watts, Shailene, Miles Teller, etc...) and the script was poor. I have never read the books so it's hard for me to compare the efficacy the books had in carrying the story through this middle ground. We'll see what's behind the wall in part 3 I guess.
