It's hyterical to read people go on about the end of the movie being a let down, or how they're tired of Hollywood remakes. This is a great adaptation and moderisation of a BOOK that was written over 100 years ago. Spielberg managed to update the story ever so delicately, while remaining absolutely true to the original story and retaining so much of the examination of terror in war-time. The acting is tremendous, the visuals are spectacular, the score is disturbing... all in all, WotW does exactly what it set out to do. For those who hate the ending: go out and read a book, for crying out loud.

Actually it was originally a radio show broadcast that was so convincing that people actually boarded up their houses thinking aliens were invading. Have you read the book? Is the ending different? Curious.
