The handsome stranger save the princess once again! Sound familiar? I have not read the books, but this story has been done 20 000 times already. The physic is flawed, the motivations of the archenemy very vague and the moral pretty lame. I did not pay, so I'm not pissed.

You say that it has been done 20,000 times before... I'll give you that; but this was written back in 1911, and at that time it had been done less than 5,000 times at best. Burroughs was one of the grandfathers of the gendre, along with Wells and Verne. The fact that he was even looking at Mars being inhabited is pretty remarkable. Too harsh; too harsh.
