In America, they call it "bling-bling"... Torn from the pages of today's newspapers, this movie is about the conflict between the rebels and government forces, in Africa, over control of the lucrative, illegal diamond trade. Director Edward Zwick wisely brings the story down to human terms to tell the tale of a mercenary with a conscience - played by Leonardo DiCaprio - who is after a rare stone, and a fisherman who only wants to be reunited with his family. The pacing of this film is awkward and so are the attempts at humour, and the ending drags on - otherwise I would give it a 10/10.
