First of all, great effort by Affeck - sreenplay, directing, and acting but I was disappointed. Given the very strong story and character development provided by the book, the screenplay lost its way with the shootouts in place of character or story development. With that the acting tended to do be inconsistent, the directing also. Affeck could have stuck with how sensible but tortured his character was. Movies just don't have the time to have as many angles as "the" book.
