Very sad that this film never really found an audience especially with the extraordinary performance of Kodi Smit-McPhee and the under-rated Virginia Madsen as his mother. Young Kodi-Smit is so honest and vulnerable throughout as the film unfolds especially with that beautiful boyish face. Restless teen years are beautifully captured in a story that very definitely points to a given: that no matter the knocks in life, it is one's own path one must follow.
