I saw this production live at Stratford last summer and I felt Colm Feore was a decent Lear in what I believe is his first time out. For some reason the maliciousness of the two older daughters was not quite convincing. They must be much more bold with Shakespeare's words to come across as monsters they really are. The production itself is quite spectacular, but I have seen better Lears. It was also a day I was horrendously tired, the sixth play in 5 days so I found the production excruciatingly long especially as I would have have wanted a much stronger, bolder vision and direction for several, especially the daughters. I am eager to read what others think!
