This black comedy by up and coming Robert Altman (in 1970) threw everyone for a loop at the intensity of the war while maintaining its status as a comedy (note above) Altman scored highly at all the major festivals including his nominations for the Oscar. It is self-evident that there is a very strong anti-war sentiment resonating in the film.
