This 1948 film shown on Turner proved to be a little gem. The cast is absolutely consummate with the likes of Frank Sinatra as a priest, no less, Fred MacMurray. Lee J. Cobb and the wonderful ALIDA VALLI who lit up the screen in the late forties and fifties. I first caught her in Hitchcock's THE PARADINE CASE, but her Italian films are the essence of her career. In Visconti's SENSO, she is miraculous!
