This Federico Fellini film from 1954 was the first foreign film to take home an OSCAR in the new Foreign Language Film Category. Previously it was given as a special award. Fellini is at his best in this daring tragic tale of a simple-minded adolescent sold to a brutal circus performer doing a strong man act. The film can definitely be viewed as a very wrong course of action, even an immoral act. Anthony Quinn and Giulietta Messina lead the cast in this brilliant, controversial Fellini film, just one of many more to come from the brilliant Italian director.
