Maggie Smith received an Oscar nomination for her delightfully eccentric performance as Aunt Augusta in this giddy and accomplished screen version of Graham Greene's novel. Alec McGowan is very good as Aunt Augusta's affably stodgy Henry, a banker whose only passion seems to be the flowers in his garden. Once Augusta gets her hands on her lame nephew to raise some mush needed cash, misadventures compile one after the other. Dame Maggie Smith and Alec McGowan are great as an unforeseen, inspired twosome.
