Superb recreation of Cold War atmosphere in the 50's, the building of the Berlin Wall, the U2 missions, the dull grey of East Germany in rubbles - weaved in amazing camera work. Great character portrayals of Rudolph Abel and James Donovan, who had great character integrity in common (a stoik mujik - to quote Abel's line, see the movie :) The story is the story of the Hollow Nickel, that ended with a spy exchange between the US and USSR. Amazing how film maker like Spielberg and the Coen brothers can make a gripping drama almost without shooting, car chases or violence (there was a bit for color in East Berlin.)
