The Revenant

I liked this movie despite the disturbing scenes for lots of reasons: it was, I think, a realistic look at what the early frontier, the rugged fur trade really looked like. The brutality, the rivalries, the hardships, the pristine gorgeous scenery, fear, survival, compassion and 'comeradery'... all there. Of course revenge and love (father-son) are there to keep you going and routing for the hero.

The acting is sublime (Leonardo at his best) and nature at its most wondrous (beyond beautiful) I was exhausted when the movie ended as I was physically involved!

I am a fan of revenge (as most people are even though they don't admit it... ya gotta love the Count of Monty Cristo!)

So, without giving away anything, you need to see it, on the big screen as it is controversial and SO beautiful, cinematography speaking.

The dialogue is very limited, I even missed a lot of what the villain was saying (mumbling in his beard), but it does not affect the overall. The spoken word plays a small role. Close your eyes at the blood and gore and you will be fine!
