Surprisingly this picture doesn't portray any of its getto-based characters as gangsters - which was refreshing - yet oddly enough gives the film a kind of 'white-washed' mood. Still, the script skillfully portrays black American culture, and subtly demonstrates how this culture contributes to the on-going problems of black America. The film suggests that blacks must honestly think for themselves, look within for leadership and work together for mutual benefit rather than against one another. Overall, the whole thing charmed me. I recommend this movie to anyone wanting to see a highly entertaining if slightly Disneyesque movie.
