I've seen this film 3 times recently, twice on DVD and once on the large screen. I like it better each time. Hawks actually puts 3 solid plot lines in here. None goes aground. There's a love story (John Wayne smooches!), Dean Martin gets sober, and the bad guys lose. Ricky Nelson challenges Angie Dickinson in the 'highest pitched voice' contest and the hero of the piece is Walter Brennan. It's a beautifully shot film, uncluttered by an over-the-top John Wayne. He actually takes a back seat and lets the others do their thing. A goodie.
