It pains me to write this review. I wanted to like this movie. I was anxious to see this movie. Sadly, it was lackluster drudgery with a silly, nonsensical plot that droned on excessively. What we see here is a conflicted, more sensitive bond, not the energetic, unstoppable force of nature we were introduced to in Casino Royale. The net effect is tiring. Suddenly Bond is all too human, and while he was always fallible, he now exudes a weariness unsavoury to the character. The pace of the film was lethargic, save a few sequences which couldn't manage to pull me out of the tremendous low the tone of the film generated. The comedic relief felt strained and forced. The villains, unconvincing and lacking depth. Character motivation ran shallow all around. Truly a weak offering in the 007 legacy, and one that could signify a demise for the franchise.
