Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

This movie soars despite the immense scrutiny it comes under as a sequel to two previous monster hits. T1 and 2 were hard acts to follow and where T3 succeeds is not in the invention of new and wonderful special effects, but in the original way in which these special effects are employed. The chase scenec through the streets is really quite remarkable and highly entertaining. Don't go to this movie looking for something which will top the previous two movies because that's just not possible. Where the other two movies had new ground to break each time, this movie is at a disadvantage. Special effects of this qulaity are now the norm in Hollywood and the "shock value" of the storyline is no longer there, nor could it be in the third installment of any story. If you see this movie with that in mind you will find T3 a worthy continuation of the series. The plot is an interesting bridge to what will obviously be a fourth movie. Let's just hope it's not over a decade before the next one comes out.
