Saw the movie Boyhood last night at a CinemaClock preview. It is a ground-breaking fictional film that was made over a twelve year period. It is life as seen through the eyes of the little guy-- Mason at age 6 to age 18 growing up in Texas. They used the same actors over that time. It was 166 minutes long. A really interesting premise that shows an American family, American society (with all the technology, politics of the time) I think that it will be looked at with great interest over the long term -say in 50 years plus... That said, it seemed interminable. After an hour and a half -- it seemed like real time was going faster. I have enough angst in my life without being immersed in someone else's. If you wait for it to go on TV, you will certainly not sit through it. The acting of Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and "Mason" was excellent. This is like time lapse photography but time lapse gone wrong. If you are into film-- you'll probably want to see it, but I can't see the "average filmgoer" (Is there such a thing?) wanting to sit through 166 minutes of this.
