    Gloria

It is an international theme with a Chilean spin to it. An over 50 years old empty nested woman, financially independent, finds herself lonely and tries to find love again. She fells for a jerk that she will dump before finding her real self, more free and independent in her head than what she was before. I couldn’t but notice the physical resemblance of the main character with Dustin Hoffman’s legendary Tootsie, probably because of the haircut and the ugly oversized glasses she wears. The actress Paulina Garcia won a Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for best actress. Thought she offered a good enough performance, my take is that she got it because she was gutsy enough to bare it all at her age. So, it is a cute movie but could let go of some intimate scenes without affecting the storyline.
