    Man of the Year

Man of the Year is a rather slight film that doesn’t really work all that well. The story is weak and unbelievable. To buy into this picture one has to accept that the average late night cable talk show host with a staff of six helpers and a rented travel bus could become a credible US Presidential candidate. That’s the basic plot and even the least cynical among us would find this hard to accept, and well isn’t US politics and politicians a rather easy target for Hollywood to criticize and make fun of? Robin Williams does a reasonable job and the best scenes are when he gets to stand up before an audience and do his thing. Overall the film is forgettable and is at best a rental for Robin Williams fans.
