I was really excited to see A Walk Among The Tombstones. I really like Liam Neeson and the trailers for this movie were very effective. Well, I must say that A Walk Among The Tombstones is the best crime thrillers of the year (so far) and I totally loved it! The story follows Matthew, a retired detective trying to find two serial killers after they murder a drug-dealer's wife. The story is one of the best parts of the movie. It has twists and turns all over the place and keeps you guessing until the very end. The characters are very good and are very interesting. Especially the two serial killers, expertly played by two mostly unknown actors. Liam Neeson does a superb job as his dark and interesting character."Astro" is slowly becoming one of my favourite child actors, as he gives a really good performance as TJ. The rest of the cast work very well. The musical score is brilliant and reminiscent of old 70s detective movies. The sound is also great, with gunshots sounding as real as ever. It is very well edited and is directed EXTREMELY well. It also maintains a very dark and disturbing tone throughout. This movie isn't perfect though. It has a mostly very slow pace, which isn't always bad. There are some parts that felt boring, though. This movie also has some obvious genre clichés and some parts were very predictable. Overall, A Walk Among The Tombstones is a dark and disturbing crime-thriller with amazing directing and a great story! Even though it is slow and has it's fair share of clichés, it is worth seeing if you like crime movies! RATING: 8.75/10.
