If you've read the book a hundred times like I have, you'll miss the parts they left out. I thought it was okay.

But didn't they leave ALL of it out? It's a new story, not a remake...
No, it's not a true remake of the book (or the Disney movie version) But it does contain many of the characters, motivations, settings, side stories and plot points of the original book. So it's not quite a new story, nor is it a remake. And that's what disappointed me. I didn't feel this movie was enough its own new thing, nor did it maintain the magic and creativity of the book. I was unable to suspend disbelief and lose myself in the story or setting - I just kept noting the lack of certain elements that made the book work for me. I also felt the animation wasn't quite right (the horse, in particular, was awful)
