Saw this movie 4 days ago and still trying to sort it all out for the Movie Clock review. Since I am still struggling with it, it may make sense to write from that angle? Birdman is a movie that requires the audience to commit to watching carefully and closely. And for the effort, is taken on a hell of a ride. The story is bittersweet, the storytelling is chaotic (purposefully) and the story line is jarring most of the time. Remember when you were a kid and you sat in that little car and headed into the funhouse at the amusement park? That's what this movie reminds me of. The jarring, screeching, sharp turns, sudden plunges, gasps and lurches. All the while, the viewer is clutching the side of the car for dear life, hoping not to fall out as it careens to the end of the line. If you like off beat movies that aren't tied up with a Hollywood Glitter Bow and create deep conversation for hours afterward, then this is your kind of movie. Is it my kind of movie? Honestly, I am still asking myself that question. We'll probably see some Oscar nominations coming out of this wild ride - it's THAT kind of movie!
