With polar bears now on the endangered species list and a chunk of ice the size of Manhattanbreaking off of the Arctic ice shelf, this brilliantly made film feels, well... like yet another warning. Almost as good as Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys or television's Threads (1984), but definitely up there as a great movie set in the dreadful near-future. Clive Owen is superb. The set pieces are shot very, very well. The archetypes and mythic references add intelligently. This director's previous film was pretty good, too.
