After reading the bad review that the previous poster posted on this site, I was not so keen on watching this but I had lots of time, so I did. And now I know I should not trust the reviews sometimes. I trust the bad reviews for Hollywood blockbuster movies, but for films like this, you have to be your own judge. First, the acting was superb, Naomi Watts was not "crazy" to do this movie like what many are saying. And she delivers like an allstar... like a superstar player in hockey, NBA or the Red Sox. Second, the script is NOT terrible. Funny I am not related to this film in any way but it sounds like I'm defending it. Just that I've never seen so many bad reviews which I disagree with. I feel like the trashing of this movie, especially from the British press and American is due to the fact that it doesn't portray her as a "virgin Mary", the image that had been ingrained in us. And that because it betrays what we believed in, it is getting trashed. [...] Third, it's not over melodramatic as they say it is. I don't know and most people don't know what really happened in her love life and how much creative liberty this movie took but this movie gave me a good idea of Diana's tortured life. Whether you like her seeing romancing non-white guys is your problem. And it does show her heroic sides. What I learned is, when you make a movie about a person who is loved dearly as Diana, people will trash it just because you betrayed their expectations. Well, that is real life, people. If you want a sweet story go watch a romance comedy.
