You know Disney's desperate when they start to redo movies that were all ready crappy when they were first made 30 years ago. Freaky Friday is a typical, family Disney film. Absolutely nothing special or different than anything else, no brilliant writing, nothing particularly funny, it's Walt Disney at it's most average. But somehow through the laughable directing and sleepy script comes a bright ray of hope at the end of a dark and dreary tunnel. The saviour of Freaky Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis. Who knows why she signed on to do this film, maybe she was bored, drunk, or desperate for work, but whatever the reason it saved the movie from complete disaster. Casting Curtis was a bit of brilliance from the casting director and she delivers a hilarious and well-rounded performance. But no matter how good she is as an actress, she just can't make up for the total nightmare the rest of the movie was. Lindsay Lohan tries hard, but doesn't have enough talent to pull a workable performance out of the bag, and that punk/metal look she has does not fit her at all. She's a very pretty girl but is very average in the film. If you've got some younger kids, rent it later on a weekend. Other than that, leave it alone.
