Filmmaker Johnny Bergmann explores the plight of a man who was born into the body of a woman in this introspective look at the existence of the modern transsexual. As a young girl, fAe longed to devise a prosthetic penis that would allow her to urinate like a boy. Later, when a trip to the locker room resulted in screams, she knew that something was amiss. While assuming a lesbian identity helped fAe to better deal with her inner feelings, she still knew that this wasn't the answer to her problems. After years of thoughtful reflection on her condition, fAe finally came to the conclusion that she was a male who had mistakenly been born female. In order to finally come to terms with her true self, fAe subsequently underwent a painful double mastectomy and began receiving a strict regiment of testosterone injections. Despite the support of fAe's family and friends, the gender reassignment process wasn't always easy, and along the way both he and the ones he loves most will be faced with some of the most difficult questions they have ever faced.
