The tumult that results when a small group of American soldiers mysteriously sets up camp near a small town in the southernmost part of Iceland -- a microscopic echo of the genuine national furor that followed upon the establishment of a US army base in the country in 1949. The film's hero, youth club leader Eirikur (Pálmi Gestsson), becomes a vocal opponent of these armed foreigners in his community's backyard (not least because he's worried that the local women will be far more interested in them than him). His politics have been heavily influenced by his crush on strident local communist Asthildur (Edda Björgvinsdóttir), with whom he organizes a demonstration against the Americans. Eirikur and Asthildur's protest gains little traction with the complacent community, but when word gets out that the Americans are searching for treasure, comic chaos ensues.
