By far the best of the Harry Potter movies. They actually stick to the book and and (for us readers) shows things that we know will become important in the final film. It was very well done.

This movie was probably the worst for deviation from the book actually... I still would give it an 8, but they added too many random scenes and left out many key points in the plot.

No you are wrong they left out so much from the book and because of the lack of the actual story line they added comedy.
They deviated far too much from the book - in some cases I don't know how they are going to get back on track in the final movie (ie Harry now not knowing where the tiara horcrux is in the Room of Requirement) Rather a crucial deviation in my opinion.

Click here to show this comment. I was sorely disappointed with the scenes selected to stray from the book. Where in the world did the attack at the burrow come from (they could have easily substituted that time for the final death eater confrontation at Hogwarts) and how can they have left out Dumbledore's funeral (unless that will open the next movie)? One of the smaller omissions, though I think somewhat significant to the next book, was the lack of the use of the invisibility cloak (one of the three Deathly Hallows) Most of the spying sequences show him hiding in plain sight drastically reducing the status of the cloak as the most coveted and valuable of the three. I agree that it may be difficult for some of the plot lines in the next movie, but it will be easy enough for one of the DA to mention seeing the tiara while hiding out prior to Neville's creation of the hideout, or for even a ghost to have some knowledge of it. It will of course be a further deviation, but I don't think it will be as troublesome as some of the other plot points, such as the torching of the Burrow.
