I Am Heath Ledger is a feature length documentary celebrating the life of Heath Ledger: actor, artist and icon. The documentary provides an intimate look at Heath Ledger through the lens of his own camera as he films and often performs in his own personal journey - extravagant in gesture and in action. It was his creative energy and unshakable willingness to take risks that instilled such an extraordinarily deep love and affection in the people that entered his life (and in those who knew him through his work). Heath's story is told by an eclectic and inspired cast including interviews from actors (such as) Naomi Watts, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou and Emile Hirsch, Hollywood directors Ang Lee and Catherine Hardwicke, musicians Ben Harper, N'fa and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), the Ledger family, childhood friends, and artistic collaborators. The seminal moments in Heath's motion picture career will be showcased with clips from Monsters Ball, Brokeback Mountain, I’m Not There, and his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. The documentary focuses on his inspiring brilliance not only in front of the camera but behind the camera, with his love for photography motivating his professional goal of ultimately becoming a feature film director.
