Ice and the Sky

At the age of 23, Claude Lorius answered an ad for a student to take part in a year-long scientific expedition to Antarctica, a decision that would shape his life. He began researching in Antarctica in 1957 by measuring carbon dioxide bubbles in ice (some of it 800,000 years old) and was among the first scientists to make the case for global warming.
