    La La Land

Initially I thought I'd have to bite my tongue through much of La La Land, for a huge fan of musicals I am not. How wrong I was. This movie is flat out wonderful. It's charming, romantic, whimsical, funny and just plain adorable. Speaking of adorable, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are the ideal on screen couple here, both capturing the type of Hollywood magic that is seldom seen these days. You'll really root for the aspiring actress and jazz musician as they chase their respective LA dreams, and have a splendid time doing it. The fact that the song and dance numbers aren't what could be cynically referred to as "professional", only work in the movie's favor, adding to its overall charm, and nicely complimenting its atmosphere of passionate artists taking risks. I'm almost embarrassed by how much I loved it.
