This story of German Nuns and a black fellow named Homer made history as Sidney Poitier won Best Actor Oscar in a leading role for Lilies of the Field though I thought Albert Finney in Tom Jones was more deserved. But it was the height of the Civil Rights Movement and I suppose it was a way of appeasing a weary America. It's a cute film, however.
