"Play It Again, Sam", is one of Woody Allen's hilarious early comedy masterpieces... Woody plays a nerdy, neurotic film buff who in his mind is getting advise on how to score with women from fictional private eye Sam Spade played by actor Jerry Lacy who bears an uncanny resemblance to the late actor Humphrey Bogart. Lacy has "Bogie's" facial features as well as his speech patterns down pat. A very good impersonation gives an air of reality to this very absurd comedy. Tony Roberts, one of Woody's early ensemble players as the friend who tries to help Woody's character in the romance department, but somehow never does in the time before cell phones came into use. Dianne Keaton, one of Woody's real life love interests shines as the ditzy girlfriend in one of her best early roles. A most memorable comedy.
