I think Red Dragon was an unneeded remake. The book Red Dragon came out before The Silence of the Lambs. In 1986, Michael Mann (the director of Heat and Collateral) made the film Manhunter (based on Thomas Harris's novel Red Dragon) Then, Jonathan Demme made a Silence of the Lambs movie in 1991, which won best picture. Then, Ridley Scott bombed with Hannibal in 2001. Because of Hannibal (how much it sucked), and because of Manhunter (it was already made into a movie), I think Red Dragon is unnecessary. Ralph Fiennes was good, I have to admit. One of the only reasons this movie is a seven. For effort. If Manhunter didn't exist, the movie would be better. But I'm giving it a 7.
