Sicario was a decent film but postures a lot without following through. Emily Blunt is unconvincing as an FBI task force lead and can't hold a candle to Josh Brolin's performance as her CIA counterpart. Blunt's performance is wooden while Brolin seems to thrive in the role. Benicio del Toro is expectedly creepy but his character's development plateaus early on, and even the strategically placed plot twists don't shock with the revelations about his dark past. All in all, it's a satisfying journey but stops just short of being truly edgy. The film would have benefited from a few more gritty action sequences and some hard core attitude.
