If you live life via texting, and film means comic book heros or CG explosions, you aren't going to be happy here. Film for grown ups with a literary bent. Clooney is somewhat assuming Robert Redford mantle as a leading actor working a lot processes, in his choices. This has aspects of "Day of the Jackal" without the profile of the target. The American will likely be better thought of 20 years from now. The location and the supporting cast was well chosen, believable. There are some not unknown "devices" in plot and character development, but as an adults movie working with them is entertaining. Well done, and very good evolution of the the main characters, if a bit spare.
