The BOOK was amazing, which is why I had wanted to see the movie. So for those who haven't read the book I insist you do; you won't regret it. It is a beautiful piece of literature. The MOVIE was not my favourite. It was good; the acting was good (especially Geoffrey Rush), the story having enough humour and realism, but I think it could have been waaay better. Emotional scenes were not long enough to leave lingering effects, and the ending was terrible! It was like a Nicholas Sparks romance movie in the end which was awful for me because I loved the ending in the book (although it was very tragic) I'm just disappointed because this movie had a lot of potential that was lost through poor screen writing and directing. HOWEVER, the movie had enough positive points that I would still say it is worth seeing. Even though I basically just contradicted what I said previously. And I went with other people who read the book and they all REALLY liked it :) So each to their own opinion.
