I often find myself wondering if "The Crow" would have been such a great movie without the tragedy that befell it. It is impossible to watch it without an eerie feeling of remorse. We all watch movies with a subconscious reassurance that once the credits roll those actors that were shot or maimed will just hop up and go for lunch. However, as we watch Brandon Lee fight for a peaceful afterlife we know that death is very present. You can't take away from Alex Proyas's wonderful direction and James O Barr's wicked story, but none of the sequels have come anywhere close to provoking the same feelings as watching the original. Those feeling come from watching a movie about death featuring an actor who died making it. It is because of those feelings that I wonder what the reaction would be to this movie had the accident never happened.
