What a delightful, refreshing movie for a change! No Sci-fi thrillers, end of the world, hero figures and materialistic plasticity. Kudos to Don Mckellar for directing a "real" piece of entertaining and solid writing combined with lovable characters. Humour is at its best and there are so many belly laughs to be had. It was very well casted; a great Canadian film; I was impressed. There was great jazz and celtic music to enjoy and even a bit of romance. Beautiful Newfoundland is captured in a small harbour community that still values a more simple life; one worth fighting for. The beauty and unspoiled land was a parallel to me of the people who share an older sense of good values; unspoiled, hard working and enjoyment of life fueled by pride without all the trimmings. This is a heartfelt message of our times, life changes and the contrast between "pride" and "shame" of very different places in our world. Thank you for making me laugh and for embracing a far less complex life, filled with fun.
