This movie was so beautiful. It had some of the best awkward and hilarious moments I've seen on film, but more than that it was very well written. All the actors did amazing jobs, and I found a realistic relationship was portrayed on screen. I love how the problems Annette Benning and Julianne Moore were having were the same problems a straight married couple would have, or a gay male couple would have. As part of the Queer community myself, I was relieved to see what a good job everyone did in making this movie. I find that sometimes the they way the LGBTQ community is depicted on film is made to talk down to us, and give us what they think we want or who they think we are. This movie doesn't do that, and I love it for that reason. But even still, if you took away the 'gayness' in the movie, and made it a straight couple, it would still be a fantastic, smart depiction of what happens when a couple grows older and more far apart through time.
