An important and powerful documentary by film-maker Michael Moore which openly questions the assumptions Americans make about their gun obsessed society. The films major investigation concerns the question of why Americans per capita - kill each other with guns many times more than any other society on earth. Moore juxtaposes sometimes hilarious interview footage of âaverageâ gun-loving Americans with unnerving footage of gun-related violence. Throughout the film, Moore subtly points his camera at symbols of American society that say so much about their violent attitudes, values and beliefs. Then he asks the viewer to question these ideals and form an opinion about American society. This film is entertaining and uplifting while poignant and disturbing in the same breath. Many times I was either laughing out loud or squirming in my seat at the images I saw in this picture. In my opinion, Bowling for Columbine is a near masterpiece of documentary filmmaking.
