Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Jim Carrey has never had a staff as talented as this one to work with before, and he gives his best performance here. The film actually presents a philosophical question. Here's the situation: you (male or female) fall in love. After a time the relationship becomes trying and you want it to end. Not that easy because since the relationship began, your every breath has contained the image of your soul mate. What we have here is a philosophical science-fiction tale, and we can do that because we enlisted Charlie Kaufman to write the script. So a) do you go to a professional 'memory erasor' and have all connections of him/her erased from your mind? B) Do you contact someone who says he can conduct a partial memory fade, erasing only the currently unpalatable memories? C) Do you 'grin and bear it', hoping time itself will dim the bad feelings? D) Do you get back together, other person willing, and hope to do some growing up? If you can write a convincing response, you may have the talent to be a screenwriter!
