In terms of film-making technique, this flick is aces. Shades of Tarkovsky and Leone in terms of intense close-ups and slow tracking shots. In terms of plot? Well, it's yet another vengeance-oriented tale from a country that seems to specialize in revenge dramas. Starring Min-sik Choi as it's horribly earthy antagonist, a man seemingly composed of nothing but flesh, blood, bone and pure id. The film's got a lot of unbearable tension and nasty sadism, but runs a little too long and suffers from a protagonist who's a tad one-dimensional. Still, if you're looking to get that extreme Asian cinema itch scratched, this one's got your bases covered.
