If love of music is an emotion then this is an extremely emotional film. If giving your love away to another person is a selfless act, then Seymour Bernstein is a truly unselfish man. Director Ethan Hawke, known primarily as an actor, made his presence known briefly at the outset then humbly took a seat as the accomplished classical pianist took over and graced us with 80 minutes of beautiful music. Mr. Bernstein had the courage to officially retire from concerts at the young age of fifty in order to dedicate himself to his real love, passing on his knowledge to others. This film is an ode to his talents as a pianist and his skills as a teacher, and to the viewer is worth far more than the cost of a movie ticket.
