    The Great Gatsby

Never read the book even though I was supposed to in high school. Never saw any of the other versions. Didn't really like Baz Luhrmann's movie Moulin Rouge, so I didn't know what to expect. It had some elements of Moulin Rouge--particularly the excessiveness of the visuals which is both off-putting and enticing at the same time. It was overly long. It was a feast for the eyes. The acting-- especially Leonardo DiCaprio and Toby MacGuire-- excellent. This movie shows Leo in his prime both in looks and the development of his talent. He is perfect as Gatsby. This movie is definitely art-- it won't be to some people's taste or appreciation, but make up your own mind.
